“You get out of it what you put into it.”
I know you’ve heard that before right? Know someone has said that to you before, right? For me, it was high school that I started taking that seriously. There’s been a lot of evidence along this journey of life that can back this up too.
So now, 20 plus years later, I’m thankful for those words. Some of you may know that I can be very picky. No, not OCD like, yet. And no, not perfection, but as close as we as imperfect humans can get. My projects, my photography, my events are all a representation of who I am, where I’ve been and where I’m trying to go.
I don’t claim to know it all, or to be the best. I strive to continue to grow in all aspects of my life. I’ve been told that I was kinda bougie. Guess what, that’s okay, I’ll take that if it’ll take me to the next level. Everyone have a different priorities in life, that is great. No, two people are exactly alike, so why would your priorities? I enjoy the things I do. I don’t do things just to please someone else or just because others are doing it. I’m doing it because either I like it or there’s a need that I’m passionate about. I tend to find myself trying to surround myself with other business and like minded individuals. Granted we are all different and have different lives, but we can come together for the greater good. We don’t have to talk everyday, or see each other every day, but when we do work on something we put our all into it.
I personally don’t have time for half stepping or showboating. I’m on a mission to make some things happen. I make scarifies to give you best possible outcome. It doesn’t matter if it’s my photography, an event or a workshop, or my corporate job. Anyone that has worked with me know, I don’t half step. I may procrastinate sometimes (which I pay for), but I put my all into what I do. If it is something I can’t do, I will tell you I can’t do it. Shouldn’t that be the expectation across the board? With everyone? I guess the question should be: “Why do something if you’re going to half-way do it?” What really is the point? If I invite you to join a project, team or anything I’m working on, then expect nothing less. I understand that sometimes our passions are on different levels and sometimes our reasons are different as well. That still doesn’t give you the right to half step.
How we act on projects, our own or others, says a lot about us. It says a lot about who you are as a person. Trust me, I’m far from perfect and don’t claim that. Yes, I have moments where I just don’t want to do anything, moments where I move slower than others, but I can promise you this, If I agree to do something, then I’m going to put my all into it. I will be giving it 100%. As we proceed into the year, I hope everyone is putting their A game into their projects and goals. You can either join me on the positive journey to success, or just step aside and allow those ready to move forward step up. If you plan to sit there and complain 24/7, then just sit there and watch everyone else make their moves. If you’re not ready for the grind, the hustle, please stay out the way. If you don’t care about your brand, then that’s okay, but know and understand I care about mine. I’m on an unrelentless pursuit of my goals. Those that have been by my side, I really appreciate it. Those new ones, I thank you for your support and dedication.
There is no time like the present to get focused and dedicated on your plans. Work hard and don’t half step at anything you do. Do what you do and do it with conviction.
